The person behind the lessons
Meet Brandon Brookes.
A university English instructor and private educator who builds lessons around the learner, the goal, and a useful next step.
Start with the learner.
Choose the task with care.
I teach teens and adults in one-to-one online lessons. My work brings reading, writing, vocabulary, and communication together, with materials tailored to the learner’s level, goals, and interests.
I create all lesson materials myself, using a textbook or published resource when it helps. A lesson can begin with schoolwork, a reading, a draft, an exam task, or a conversation. What the learner does with it helps shape the next lesson.
After each lesson, I send specific written follow-up on the work, what would benefit from practice, and what comes next.
My experience includes 7,000+ private lessons and 10,000+ hours in online education, alongside university teaching in English language, composition, comparative literature, general education, and education.
